To make them, I wrapped wool yarn around itself tightly, as you would make small balls of yarn for knitting. Today, my daughter saw me looking at some cute plush matroyshkas on Etsy, and asked me to make her one. She was being a bit pushy, "Mom, how long is it going to take? Will you have it made by today? Mom, why aren't you sewing it yet?"

They have a special bond that I find so sweet. R lights up when he sees S, and he giggles and reaches for her.

Isn't this shirt sweet? My oldest brother and his wife are having their first baby in a few weeks, and she asked me to make baby boy a onesie with this slogan on it to wear home from the hospital. Shh! Don't tell daddy.

My mom was one of 13 kids. She was raised in a very musical home (here is my grandpa on PBS playing jazz piano, and my uncle Mark on bass. Mark is awesome and played bass with Meatloaf on Saturday Night Live! Thread is vintage and it's for decoration. The rack is an Ikea shelving unit from my childhood that I painted. The bike print is from my mom, as is the measuring ruler. Usually I am at home with the kids feeling sorry that everyone else is together as a family. We visited the Camden Aquarium, and had a blast. It is so nice to live in the city, it took us maybe 15 minutes door-to-door to get there. The kids loved it and it wore them out. Here is the hippo, she was super cute:

Here are my two girls helping me with some Rebourne business stuff. I have been reading John Holt's books lately, considering homeschooling next year. I have been trying to engage my girls whenever possible. Sage helped me wrap and package some orders the other day. I use cheesecloth and yarn to wrap orders, and have heard back from two customers now who have used the cheesecloth!

Maybe you have two kids in wool diaper covers, or you are washing your longies at the end of the winter. Here is my method for washing wool items in my machine (basically pulled right from the Eucalan bottle!):

It was magical as it always is. This year was particularly challenging with missing my mom, but we had a nice ceremony to remember her and spread her ashes in Torch Lake.
 
This was the first year that actually felt like a vacation for us. The girls were so independent and required very little baby gear (though the stroller was a lifesaver).

Yesterday was a big day for the girls. Sage, who is  4, has always been a water baby. She can swim on her back and front, and I think she could probably swim about 25 yards without help if she really tried. She can swim down to probably 5 feet deep to retrieve objects. She doesn't swim any strokes, just doggy-paddle at this point, but she is able to take a breath and continue swimming.

I finished some wool shorties today after not feeling motivated for about a week to work on them. I got 6 done so I will be posting a pair a day.

Lastly, we bought another stroller on Craigslist. We sold our used Phil and Ted's on Craigslist back in January, before we found out I was pregnant.
